The Big 3-0

birthday enclosuresOn Saturday I will be leaving behind the 20′s and embarking on a new decade full of life, love, friends, and family. I know most people dread entering their 30′s but I’m embracing it, almost like starting over again. Starting fresh. And I’m just so excited I want to share it with you. So from now until 11:59pm EST on Saturday the 29th, leave a comment telling us about your best birthday experience. And I’ll randomly choose a winner to win any three (3) items currently in my shop. So let’s reminisce about the past and celebrate the future.

oh, this is great! happy early birthday! i sometimes can’t wait for 30, but then i remind myself that it will be here before i know it and i go back to enjoying my late 20′s. sadly (or maybe cynically), i have to say that my birthdays are usually pretty sucky. i think the last really great birthday i had was 17. yeah, i know (my day is dec. 28, which for various reasons is a bad, bad time to have a birthday). sorry to be such a downer.

i love the 30′s… and have recently vowed to “be my best at 40″- so the way i see it… i have 8 more years in the making to be the best me!

every year a i make a wish- just as i hope everyone does. i always wish for health, love & great wine (order depends on the year)…. in some way or another my wishes have always come true. lessons are learned, people have come & gone, and each year i aim to be better than the year before.

best bday ever… when my dad surprised me w/ a sailboat for my bday (i still haven’t told him that i saw it hiding next to the deck 3 days before the bday… why ruin the man’s fun!).

cheers to a great year ahead w/ YOUR wishes coming true!!!!

Happy birthday Bridgett! Who would’ve thought that after all these years we’d “meet again” in our 30th? I have to say my best birthday so far was my 30th, this past March…mind you, I didn’t do anything particulary special– went out for a quick bite to eat (which actually wasn’t very tasty), didn’t recieve any clothes or gift certificates, there was no surprise party–so what made it the best? My precious baby boy was born 5 days earlier…the greatest gift there ever was :o ).

woohoo! happy [almost] birthday bridgett! my best so far was my 30th, in march 08. my husband + best girlfriends planned an amazing day for me, picked me up from work [called my boss to get me the day off] and 6 of our friends met us at a screen-printing workshop, which i’ve always wanted to learn. so fun. then we decided to go out for dinner afterwards, but little did i know that about 30 of our friends were waiting for us there! such a great surprise.i hope you have an amazing bday, and it’s true what they say, 30 is the new 20 :) so far my early thirties have been very good to me!

my best birthday was definitely when i turned 11. my mom rented a limo for my friends and i. we all went out to dinner at my favorite place and felt like such important little divas. my mom never could afford to splurge so i know that this was hard for her to do and i loved every second of it!

Well, happy birthday to you! :D
One of my favorites was taking a weekend trip with my family to Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia – what a glorious place!

Well, if I don’t say it on Saturday, Happy Birthday Bridgett! My twenties were fun, but so far thirties are even better. Lesley said it, 30 IS the new 20! I’d have to say my favorite birthday experience was my 32nd. It’s actually a little bittersweet… my husband was deployed but somehow managed to have 32 {beautiful} roses sent to the restaurant my friend , our kids and I were have lunch (she was in on it). And to top it off he suprised us both by paying for our lunch (he called the place and gave them his credit card #). He managed to do this from thousands of miles away. He made my birthday special even though I was sad he wasn’t there to spend it with me.

First off, Happiest of Birthdays to you. You’ll love 30!

As for my favorite birthday–when I was in college, my sweetie got us a room at the Hilton in Downtown Seattle and I played hooky from class. It was the best night—we were UBER poor and it was a big splurge. Roses and champagne and feeling very naughty for missing classes. (Yes, I was THAT girl in school).

Happy, happy B-day! I embraced the beginning of my 30′s last year and it IS wonderful!! My best b-day experience was actaully last year…. I had an early present, the birth of my first child! And on my actual b-day after a few weeks of very little sleep, my husband and newborn let me sleep in while they made me the yummiest breakfast in bed. I hope you have a great one!
Also, we got our cards and favor tags in the mail today! So super cute!!! Thanks.

Happy Happy Birthday Bridgett. Ahem, my 20′s were not my finest years, although I do know my body was best in my 20′s, but that is not the makings of this girl. I found myself in my 30′s and am working on maintaining joy and giving joy in my 40′s—yep, IN MY 40′s.

My best birthday was my 40th; my family (my side and my husband’s side) threw me a surprise (I kind knew as DH is transparent like that) party and it was so lovely. My mom photocopied tons of photos from my youth on paper and used it as wrapping paper for my gifts—complete w/ shadow box of my father’s dog tags, her first eng ring, stories and memories of all of my years.

Having both families in celebration was so fun and basking in the love of old family, new family (we had been married only a year then) and old and new friends was so memorable.

I will say that I have learned to lighten up over the years, still learning. I wish for so much joy, peace, connection and self acceptance for you in your 30′s :)

Huge hugs, wish we lived closer, I would love to buy you lunch.

Happy Birthday! Embrace those 30′s! I am actually really looking forward to my birthday this year (October) as it is my first one as a mom. Birthday’s haven’t ever been a big deal in my family, but I hope to change that with my daughter to make her feel celebrated tremendously on her birthdays. Not necessarily spoiled by gifts, but really make her feel special. I look forward to starting traditions too. I LOVE the red plate idea (a red plate for the honored guest at a specific dinner) so am searching for a perfect red plate.

Happy birthday lovely! I hope you have a beautiful day–a little rain can’t get in the way of your good time!

I too am turning 30 this year, on the 29th–of October though. I haven’t given a whole lot of thought to the number itself, but I definitely feel the effects–emotionally and physically of reaching a milestone birthday. Mostly in a good way! Enjoy your day!
