The birthday party is done and everyone had a great time. Family flew and drove in and many friends came over to help celebrate. As you could tell from the invitations, the party colors were yellow and gray. Simply because every color to her was yellow (she has expanded her repertoire since) and we all know how much I love gray. A perfect combination.

I had a lot of help with the details from new and old online friends. The party hats and banner were from Jess Newman, owner of Polka Dots and Pirates. She did the banner for Kendall’s first birthday and there was no question I would have her help again. I sent her the pictures of the invitations and she matched everything perfectly. I literally yelped when I opened the box. And mind you this is all with no other input from me. Jess is that good!
She has become so inundated with orders I’m on her 2010 list. So hurry and get on her list for next year!

I did do a lot of the detail work myself. I wrapped each silverware setting and created a paper napkin ring. I also created a menu for the food to eliminate any questions on ingredients. With a daughter who has many food allergies it just becomes second nature worrying about food ingredients. A simple menu of make your own sandwiches, potato chips, and cheese tortellini was perfect for this noon affair. But for each child I made a lunch sack consisting of a turkey sandwich, pretzels, carrot sticks, and a juice box.
In addition to balloons we had gray and yellow poms hanging from the ceiling which added a nice touch. These were made courtesy of Pom Love.

What’s a party without dessert? Instead of the traditional cake I went the cupcake route and it was so easy to serve cupcakes versus cutting into a cake. Plus I was able to easily incorporate Kendall’s allergen-free cupcake at an inexpensive price tag.

The kids each received a favor bag full of candy and bubbles. They also filled it with the candy from the pinata as well. And each adult received 2 fabulous earl gray cookies from my favorite online baker, whimsy and spice. The perfect ending to a perfect day.

I think the birthday girl enjoyed herself. Happy birthday sweet Kendall!
