Some of you have noticed the changes that have been going on around here. You might call it spring cleaning, a little house keeping so to speak. But in reality my vision and voice for this little business became clear. I came to a cross roads not to long ago and had to make a decision: do I continue Perideau Designs as a hobby or do I take it to the next level and follow my dreams. I decided to take the second path, but not as I have done in the past. Before I would have made a decision and then just run with it, without a second thought. This time I let things mature organically and although frustrating at times for someone who has patience of a gnat I let it go. And the outcome was clear, I needed to look at what I was doing and not what everyone else was. My best seller has been the personalized giraffe prints and from that came the ‘mascot’ and logo for Perideau Designs. And the new colors? Well the name perideau originated from my birthstone, peridot which is a lime green. After many takes on color schemes came the muted and soothing green you now see in my banner. It just all fell into place and I couldn’t be more happy.

After I established my brand I needed some guidance on taking it up a notch. After pouring over Meg Ilasco’s book, Craft Inc., in the bookstore, I decided to purchase it since it was full of so many great tips from setting goals to how to become a wholeseller. Now that I have a game plan and timeline in place I can confidently move forward with my new e-commerce website which will debut later this year. I needed a way to ease the transaction process and become more efficient and with all the personalization options I offer, it was needed. So I hired the lovely team at Aeolidia and the timing of this post couldn’t have been better because this morning I received my first draft of the design and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. I even did a little yelp out loud.
And one last thing before I go, I said before that I needed to be true to myself on this blog. Well, as you can see, I’ve also taken that beyond the blog and applied the same philosophy to my business. But here on the blog you will see more about me, my life, my family, and the in’s and out’s of running a business. I tried dishing out hot topics and news, but frankly that’s not me. I’ll still show you products and people/businesses but it won’t be in the form of a series but more free flowing.
So there you have it. However, if you know me at all, this isn’t the end. I still have more up my sleeve.

Hi, I'm

Your blog looks lovely Bridgett! You are doing such a wonderful job implementing what we are learning at BYW. I cannot wait to watch your blog evolve further. I’m really looking forward to more posts about you, personally, your life, family, and business. Great work!

How wonderful for you, Bridgett! You sound resolved and ready to enjoy the next phase of your business! I always wondered where the name came from…now i know! Keep on keepin’ on – to thine ownself be true
looks lovely bridgett! way to go
Your honesty and determination are inspiring. And I’m going to follow your blog religiously because I’m just starting a business of designing a few decor accessories. I’m sure I can use the advice & just reading about your process.
Keep rocking! I love all the changes that you have made these past few weeks- I find it very inspiring.
bridgett, i think it all looks and sounds great. i guess the “where do i take my shop and my life” thing is going around because i’ve been bit, too. : )
Bridgett, congratulations on all of the changes you’ve implemented. It’s very inspiring to see how other small business owners expand and enhance their businesses. I’m sort of at a crossroads with my business, too. For the last couple of months it has really been a side project, but soon I’m going to have to make a choice – pursue my business as a full-time job or consider re-entering the “real world.” I hate to give up on my dream, but money is (unfortunately) a big factor. What I have to do, I think, is come up with a game plan and timeless, too. I need to REALLY figure out if what I want to do is feasible.
I love it!!! Good for you!!
Oh, the team at Aeolidia are all really fantastic–I just can’t wait to see you unveil the new look! The collaboration between you and them is going to be great, I already know that!
As for staying true on the blog–thank YOU! I had the same struggle, trying to write topics that were all the buzz. But truthfully, there are more than enough other blogs doing all that. When I read about business owners and women that I admire I LOVE seeing the person behind the business even more than another take on interior design or whatnot.
lovely post, bridgett. i’m excited to see your business evolve. i am sure you have lots of greatness in store for us! i’ve been contemplating the same things on my blog, wondering for some time now whether i should get a little more personal. i tend to shy away from it, but have recently been feeling like sharing a bit more. thanks for the impetus, and looking forward to reading more about you, your business, and the things you love!!
