Let’s Party! Free Printable Birthday Party Checklist

Let's Party!
As you may know, I’m in full party planning mode. Kendall’s 4th birthday party is only a few weeks away. I thought about sharing the birthday invitations with you today, but decided to save that until the wrap up post, maybe another free printable? We’ll see…

Anywho, as I’m planning her party I carry around a manila folder with list after list after list. Prices of this and that and how many I need of everything. And I thought, I need to sit down and determine when I need to work on what and pull all of my budget information together. And out of that came this adorable, if I do say so myself, birthday party checklist: Let’s Party!

Let’s Party! lists out what should be done when starting roughly two months out. There’s also a section for you to keep track of the cost of the party and a note section underneath for all of your miscellaneous info.

As I was chatting with my dear friend Jessika, who’s also planning her daughter’s birthday party, she mentioned how she has been creating an inspiration board. I thought that was a great idea and asked her to elaborate on her process.

Before I really get into planning a party I always begin by taking the time to gather party ideas and inspiration from a number of sources. I start with a big sheet of paper or poster board and tape, pin, or staple all the things that catch my eye or go with my theme. As I add to the board I usually start seeing a general color palette and style which I can refine by removing things that no longer fit with the overall idea. Or at least that is how I used to do it!

With the invention of Pinterest I have started using my pin boards as a party planning resource to collect inspiration from around the web. Now I can pin tutorials, activities, colors, decor and anything else that catches my eye easily and without having to keep a pair of scissors handy. I also follow the boards of popular party planners like Pizzazzerie, Amy Atlas, Kim of Tomkat Studio and others. If you want to check out how my Pinterest planning is going while I get ready for my oldest daughters 7th birthday you can visit my pinboard and follow me to see new additions.

So go ahead and click the button below to download your free birthday party checklist and let us know in the comment box if you have any other tips for throwing a birthday party.

Can you believe it’s almost time for kids to go back to school? Some of you may be happy to get a solid chunk of uninterrupted time back and others might be sad to see your baby go to their first day of kindergarten. (Yes that will be me next year, eek!)

Although, going back to school can fun and exciting it can also be nerve racking; What will I wear? Where do I sit during lunch? Not to mention a trillion other things to worry about. And let’s not forget about moms (and dads) too! They worry about their child fitting in and getting a good education.

Let’s say you’re in school on your first day of school and you get lost going to second period or someone didn’t share their crayons during art time. You become sad, frustrated and ready to go home. But once lunch time rolls around and you see an unexpected note from mom with some words of encouragement, you know everything will be OK. It’s like having a piece of home with you.

A handwritten note can instantly turn a bad day into a great one! So I’ve designed these free downloads that you can print as many times as you like and stick them in your child’s lunchbox. I also designed some last year, so take your pick!

Free Printable :: Lunchbox Notes

Lunchbox NotesCan you believe it’s already August?! This summer just flew by and for those with little ones starting school soon you are in back to school shopping mode thinking about binders, notebooks, pens, pencils…the list goes on! This was my favorite time of year, perusing aisles upon aisles of fresh new school supplies. I marveled over the new calendars. Drooled over pretty binders. Sometimes I still find myself walking up and down the supply aisle just for fun.

But what I remember most is receiving those little love notes from my mom. This unexpected surprise gave me the extra umph to get through the rest of the day. This is something I hope to carry on and do for my daughter once she begins school. But in the meantime, I wanted I share lunchbox notes you can download and create your own tradition.

Lunchbox NotesEach download contains four notecards with the saying: ‘Happy First Day of School!’, ‘You Rock!’, ‘Have a Great Day!’, and a blank one to be used for any occasion. Simply download the file, print, and cut along the lines.

Free Printable :: My Blog Topics

My Blog TopicsA blog is more than an online journal, especially if you’re a shop owner or a professional blogger. It’s a way to be more personable, interact with your customers, and be an extension of you. So you need to maximize it to it’s fullest potential and get readers to follow.

My free printable: “My Blog Topics“, will accomplish this through helping you organize your thoughts and maximize SEO, Search Engine Optimization. In this simple + stylish layout you can plan up to 3 blog posts at a time with space to jot down your notes, ensure you maximize SEO, and keep track of where you promoted your post(s). File each page in a binder so you have a reference for future posts or to expand on a topic.

Tara Gentile, the guru of SEO, has so graciously offered to expand on how to make the most of each posts while using “My Blog Topics” pre-writing organizer. First let’s define SEO also known as Search Engine Optimization. Tara defines it as:

“…the art (and sometimes science) of helping people find your website in search engines. Good SEO involves several pieces of programming code that are most often taken care of for you. Great SEO involves a website that is clearly written, engaging to viewers, and solicits action from readers in the form of social sharing and incoming links from websites.”

Post Title
The words you select for the post title should grab a potential reader’s attention. You want to have the headline that stands out in a sea of headlines in a neglected feed reader. Your post title should also include a keyword or phrase about what your post is about.

Keywords
Imagine that you were looking for your latest blog post on a search engine. What words would you type into the search box? Choosing 1-3 keywords or phrases to focus on for a post keeps your writing centered and helps it get seen in search engines – it’s a win-win situation.

Inspiration
Choosing other articles to link to in your post isn’t sabotage, it’s smart writing. Linking out to other sites helps a search engine understand what your post is about. It’s also a service to readers who may want to delve more deeply into your subject matter. Finally, providing outside links gives your post more authority and will keep your writing on track.

Internal Links
Linking to your own posts inside of new posts is also a great strategy. New readers can see more of your blog. Older readers can go back to posts they might have missed. Either way, when a reader spends more time on your site looking at more pages, you are much more likely to convert them to regular readers – or customers. And did I mention that internal links are great for search engine optimization too?

Call to Action
When you write a post, you need to have in mind what action you would like readers to take when they are finished. A lot of times, it will be to comment on the post. Other times, you might want to ask a reader to share the post with their network. Still other times, you want a reader to act on an idea you have, click through to another site, or duplicate a project you’ve made.

Be sure to tell readers what you want them to do instead of leaving it up to them to figure out!

Follow Up Idea
Turning a single blog post into a short series – or an epic story – is a great way to engage readers. If writing your post inspired new ideas that didn’t quite fit your original purpose, jot them down in this space. When you’re hard up for a post idea, look back through your notes. Don’t forget to link back to the original post when you do!

The Final Word
One of the biggest “mistakes” I see bloggers making is not considering their blog as a whole. They don’t see the bigger picture. They post when they’re inspired, when they have news, when they’ve created a new product. But there isn’t any cohesiveness. There isn’t a sense of anticipation.

To achieve this, make sure you’re asking yourself about the larger questions your blog can answer. And then answer those large questions by posing tiny ones. Those tiny questions are your posts. As the answers to those questions pile up, you can link them together through simple category navigation, pillar content pages, or free resources.

This applies to image-heavy blogs, as well. In fact, it’s one of the most important things to consider. How do your images play together between posts? Are you telling a larger story with the images you choose? Is that story calling your readers to action without words?

In order for you blog to work for you, you must work for your blog. Using the “My Blog Topics” pre-writing organizer can help you do just that! And if you need further help with maximizing your SEO, purchase one of Tara’s e-books or set up a brainstorming session.

printable babysitter’s notepad

Got another free printable for you! This one was inspired by one of my dear readers, Amy. She said her notes to the babysitters were written on scrap paper found lying around the house. I’m sure she’s not the only one out there, right? So here’s a cute one where all the essential information is laid out for peace of mind. Important phone numbers, where the parents will be that day/night, and what’s most important to me, the allergy/medicine section. If you read my earlier post this week, you’ll know why it’s important for everyone who cares for your child to know their health issues and how to treat them. And there’s also a little miscellaneous section for notes such as bedtimes, meals, routine, etc…

I’ve gotten so many great suggestion from ya’ll so keep ‘em coming! The notepad is available for free download below or on the sidebar.
